Tazing and OC, What feels worse?
Posted 11 months ago As I had mentioned I just graduated from my academy, and we had to take a class to carry the tazer and OC. During the training they tazed and sprayed us with OC. Everyone keeps asking me what I felt was the worse. Honestly I don't know. When I got tazed my whole life passed before my eyes. It was a pain I had never felt before in my life. I have five children and can honestly say I'd rather give birth five times ina row then be tazed again!!!Now OC on the other hand, it dried in my eyelashes and affected me for three days in a row. Some of the other recruits in my class didn't get affected the same way. It was a burn like no other. So when people ask me whats worse, I just tell them , don't piss off the police!!! |

| Posted 11 months ago They both suck but I would rather be tazed. |

| Posted 11 months ago I've been sprayed several times as a DT instructor and a couple of times got a dose myself in actual field uses of OC. I've been tazed once and believe me that was enough! When it comes down to which is worse...it depends on your definition of worse. As far as during the actual application of either...Tazer wins hands down!!!!! When is comes to which is worse 15 minutes after the initial deployment....O.C. has the "gift that keeps giving" (and usually longer than 15 minutes). Bottom line IMO, If I had to choose one or the other on a regular basis, grow more peppers, you can spray me daily rather than tazing me once a month!!! |

| Posted 11 months ago In my opinion beening sprayed feels the worst, but OC doesn't always work, so I would have to say the Tazer is the best. |

| Posted 6 months ago I haven't been tazed yet. I have to admit, I do have a little morbid curiosity as to what it really feels like. I had to be sprayed as part of my training to carry OC and I just didn't see what the big deal was. Yeah it burned, it sucked to be sprayed in all reality but it wasn't like it was a breath taking pain. I can see how it can help you but I don't think it's as effective as tazing. I've seen someone get tazed and it doesn't look like fun. I will have to go through it eventually I know but from what I've seen and heard from everyone I've talked to is that tazing is hands down the worst experience they've had. |

| Posted 6 months ago i would have to say OC is worse. when ya get tazed and its over, its over. that OC spray lasts awhile. LIFE'S JOURNEY IS NOT TO ARRIVE AT THE GRAVE SAFELY IN A WELL PRESERVED BODY BUT RATHER TO SLIDE IN SIDEWAYS, TOTALLY WORN OUT, SHOUTING "HOLY SHIT....WHAT A RIDE" |

| Posted 6 months ago TAZER HURTS WORSE BUT IT GET'S OVER WITH QUICK! They told (us) to open up the Embassy, or "we'll blow you away." And then they looked up and saw the Marines on the roof with these really big guns, and they said in Somali, "Igaralli ahow," which means "Excuse me, I didn't mean it, my mistake".

| Posted 6 months ago They both suck. The Taser hurts worse but doesn't last as long, OC doesn't hurt as much but lasts a whole lot longer. Be nice. Be professional. Have a plan to kill everyone you meet. Misery minus me equals humor. I reject your reality and substitute my own. |

| Posted 6 months ago Taser only last for 5 seconds, spray is longer lasting. If I had to do it again, Tase me. They both stink! |

| Posted 5 months ago Almost anyone that I've ever talked to said they would rather get tazed weekly than EVER get sprayed again. |

| Posted 5 months ago I am 4 weeks from graduation and in our Defensive Tactics class we have to get tazed, gased, and maced! i'm not excited for any of it, but, if thats what it takes...bring it on! "Blessed Are the Peacemakers" Matthew 5:9 |

| Posted 5 months ago Im going to OC training on Tuesday, so I stopped to check this thread out. As with the rest of you guys, its mandatory in order to carry. Any advice on the OC? is there anything that you can do to get through it a little easier? I was reading what lJackson said about rather giving birth?! Wow! that says it all!!! | Posted 5 months ago I hate OC....Taser hurts, but Im so impressed by it that I will volunteer to be Tased anytime. OC is just annoying and messy and not worth the hassle. | Posted 5 months ago Just as a comparison, OC Vs. CS? Been through CS, and it ain't pretty. Being tased doesn't look like much fun either, but then again, it would be a unique experience, I am an electrician by trade now and have been zapped quite extensively. "Hmmm, 120v with a slight harmonic at the third order." Yeah been there more than a few times. Just trying to get perspective on OC. | Posted 5 months ago I've actaully been tazed and pepper sprayed voluntarily...kind of stupid i know but i was interested....I would go through the tazing any day rather than the spray because once the tazing is done...it's done...It actually made my back feel a littlbe bit better that day. |

| Posted 5 months ago BTW.. RedBird, looking at your profile you dont look to be an LEO or prior military...under what circumstances were you OC'd? Just wondering after reading your introduction paragraph....

| Posted 5 months ago Well I assumed when you used the analogy of having a toothache, that you personally had been through this experience. So I guess I will take it like the "woman" that I am who will be doing it... Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter"-Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. |

| Posted 5 months ago Well I made it through OC certification today! WOW! (And thanks for the advice BP348, it was right on!) ANd yes, giving birth felt a helluva lot better! After getting a shot straight in the eyes, I had to run through the obstacle course of kicking and punching bags(while using verbals of course) and then run to the phone and dial 9-1-1 and report my name and location! Only then could I get to the promised land(the bucket of water, baby shampoo and a hose)..WOW! What an experiene... thank god thats over! My eye still stings! | Posted 5 months ago I have not been tazed before but the OC we use in the DOC is 2.5 million skogal units and that sh@t SUCKED!!! I swear I took it worse then a little girl. That was 7 years ago and to this day I will not take a direct hit from it. Now we are looking into using 5 million skogal OC |

| Posted 5 months ago OC is so much worse. Yes having that stun gun cooking you with high voltage is not the best time in my life but it is only momentary. Unless the person on the opposite end thinks it's funny to pull the trigger again just for fun. "You can't see us, but we're there"! |

| Posted 5 months ago OC sucked real bad. I might just be extra sensitive to it or something, but I think I'd rather get tazed. Haven't had the pleasure of riding the lightning yet, but it can't hurt me worse or longer than OC did. |

| Posted 5 months ago They are both painfull. It took me 25 minutes to open my eyes fully after being OC. Being tazed was more painfull but the recovery was very fast. |
