| Posted about 1 month ago Churchill's mother was an American citizen, he was, however, born in the UK and could not have been President. His metal was tested in combat during the Bore Wars where he distinguished himself with valor, and then during the First World War as a line Officer in the trenches. Whatever his personal failings might have been he had at least the ability to stand his ground and spit in Hitler's eye. He didn't go looking for a "political" solution to the conflict that was building in Europe, he refused to coddle or submit to a Tyrrant. He was willing to fight. Yes he was an alcoholic. But it doesn't appear that he ever allowed his problem to invade his ability to do his job. Winston Churchill was a Hero. FDR was the American President that led our country through the most horrific war of modern times. When the nation and our form of government were on their knees he brought Americans a reason to look to the future and pick themselves up. When the economy was simply GONE he found a way to get the country back on it's feet with sound leadership and a very real commitment to the American Dream. When the opposition wanted to not only stick it's head in the sand and hide from Hitler and Japan but even join with them at one point, FDR began to arm America for war and then fought the evil Germany and Japan represented. Paralized by polio he refused to allow it to dictate his life. When his Doctors told him he had to retire and to give up the Presidency because the stress was literally killing him, he said he was honor bound to finish what he started. His sense of duty to his country out weighed the consiquences. Franklin D. Roosevelt was a Hero. Adolf Hitler was a briliant deviant. He was responsible for the death of his First Cousin, who he was madly in love with, even though she was only in her mid-teens. He was an outrageous liar and so filled with hate that everything he touched was soured and vile. He was also a drug addict. He took a nation in ruin, without currency, without the insitutions of the most basic law and order, without pride or dignity, a country in complete collapse, and turned it into one of the most powerful nations that has ever existed in less than nine years. The damage path that he left behind and the horrors of his march across Europe, however, will be his only legacy. They were relevant to the times and their part in history was primarily dictated by the events of those times. How these three men relate to what is going on now, I don't know. There is no correlation. How and why is it something to think about?
Happiness is a belt fed weapon.
