Another philadelphia Police killed ina car crash

PHILADELPHIA—Philadelphia police say an officer has died after a traffic accident northeast of the center of the city.

A police cruiser and another car collided at about 10:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Allegheny and Aramingo avenues in the Port Richmond section of the city.

The 24th District officer had to be extracted from the police car and was rushed to Temple University Hospital. An officer in the homicide division, which is assisting in the investigation, says the officer was pronounced dead.

Two people were in the other car, and one was freed from the wreckage immediately but the the second was extricated by emergency personnel almost an hour after the crash. There was no immediate word on the their condition.

The officer, whose name has not been released, is the fifth Philadelphia police officer to die in the line of duty in the past year. One of the others, Officer Isabel Nazario, died in September during a vehicle pursuit when the patrol car in which she was riding was broadsided by a teenager driving a stolen SUV.

Rest in peace..

Freedom is not free, but the U.S. Marine Corps will pay most of your share.

It's absolutely unbelievable, how many in the line of duty deaths Philly has endured over the past 13 months. It's even more unsettling how Simpson was the one not only to have replaced Stephen Liczbinski in the squad, but he's the one who placed his cuffs onto the scum bag that killed him.

I worked with Tim Simpson as a unit co-worker in East Division Task Force for about 5 years. Tim was assigned to the 24th District as a cop when I was working in the 25th. Every time I saw Tim we'd talk and talk and talk about the fun we had in the Task Force. Tim was a great cop. Someone you could count on no matter the circumstances. He was a wonderful friend, we studied together for the Sergeant's test back in 96. I got promoted off that list, Tim made it the next time out.

Tim was a real family man. Always talking about his boating antics up at the "Yacht Club". He loved his family and it showed in the way he spoke about them.

He'll be missed by all who knew him........
