| Posted 7 months ago First time I have seen this. I will play this during my next roll call For so long as one hundred men remain alive, we shall never under any conditions submit to the domination of the English. It is not for glory or riches or honours that we fight, but only for liberty, which no good man will consent to lose but with his life. | Posted 7 months ago Bad Bad Tactics by the officer. turned his back on a fleeing suspect. Acting like there was not a care in the world. Hate to see it go done but he was not concerned one bit about the suspect being violent. Unfortunately, he paid with his life. I can't tell, did he have a vest on? |

| Posted 7 months ago Never try to Monday morning quarterback another Officer's decisions... Where was his back up? Where were you? It isn't fair to say Bad tactics without knowing complete facts and being there. Give a brother the benefit of a doubt. |

| Posted 7 months ago Bro, just look at the video. No monday morning QBing need be done. He paid with his life being arrogant and not using good judgement!

| Posted 7 months ago Besides, The kid used a rifle on a Domestic between a Mother & her 15 year old son... What would you have done? Jumped out of your car and start rolling around on the ground jumping from tree to tree and then go knock on the door? Come on! Your feed back wasn't right... The moral of the story is they are getting these tools to kill at a young age and they don't care who they take with them. Gang bangers use Officer killings as part of initiation in some places and they think they're soilders in a war against us - that is - until they need us and then they try to sue because they can. |

| Posted 7 months ago You can't alway's be saved by a vest! A lot of small towns don't even have them or if they do the vests are "hand me downs that are expired" - I shouldn't get upset but the vest didn't protect his femoral artery. How could anyone comment on his frame of mind saying "He paid with his life being arrogant and not using good judgement!" I got to back off... anyone else think it's a case of an Officer being "arrogant and not using good judgement" based on the news clip? Am I missing something? As any domestic these days 2 cars were sent - It appeared all the procedures were followed... I can't believe this - I pray you're on a very forgiving force and this never happens to you. |

| Posted 7 months ago Sir, I think you are getting way to emotional over this and not looking at this objectively. I see what I see. Again, you might see it different. I worked those small town with no equipment. I bought it all myself, including a thousand dollar vest. Back up? What the hell was that??? I did it on my own as a 23 yr old kid with no academy training. Only my go from tree to tree and knock on the door to get the job done, ie infantry training and you know what, I came out alive after some damn scary scrapes. I'm all about tactics and common sense.. Againm, apply tactics here and you are gonna tell me he used good solid cover, loud verbal commands? How about basic felony car stop? CAR OFF? KEYS out? hands up? jsut wondering???? |

| Posted 7 months ago And I'm not trying to pick your statements apart but it seems to me you have more info on the whole situation than I do. However, what you provide only strengthens my point that he used bad tactics, if, in fact, the suspect had used RIFLE in Domestic disptue with his mother. Goes to emotionally charged and armed. Why did hte officer not conduct a feloney STOP!!! Why push the envelope unnecessarily? No direct threat to anyone so why push the pursuit without back up? Yeah, we can all sit back and disect the causes and facts but without all that, just the ending in and of it self, poor tactics. it is what it is and Brother, the truth always hurts!!! May he rest in Peace and be welcomed at the Front Gates by God Himself!!!! |

| Posted 5 months ago bsmedmpa said: I am with you 100% on this.. when he deployed the spray, the last thing he should have done was turn his back. He should have drawn down on the subject prior to approach and gave him verbal commands, when that failed, then deploy spray and keep him in sights. I can understand that there may be circumstances that we do not know about underlying here but, the fact is, his head wasn't in the right place. NEVER should you consider anything routine.. especially in this line of work. always be suspicious and trust no one. It will keep you alive. Plan for the worse and have 2 plans to back you up in case an incident should arise. Cutting corners can sadly bring you to what you watched in this video. Be safe guys and use your heads |

| Posted 4 months ago An unfortunate event, I won't comment on any tactics because multiple issued could be in the works here....all I can say is be safe and never let your guard down even if you have have a dozen run-ins with the same suspect before. | Posted 3 months ago Inaddition to what you saw on the video there is more, I believe the suspects ran the officer over as they left the scene. I will see if I can find the rest of the video and post it if I find it. The dash cam of another unit caught the rest of the suspects action as they left but it was from quite a distance I do believe but dont quote me for sure. |

| Posted 3 months ago I agree we shouldn't monday morning quarterback, but definitely learn from the situation and go over what you would do in a similar situation. I have seen lots of scenarios where i wouldn't do what a fellow officer did. |

| Posted 3 months ago I'm not afraid to Monday Morning QB that traffic stop and I'm usually the guy to sway towards the Officer under the microscope because we don't usually get a full clip to watch. Where on earth is someone trained to use force... ie pepper spray, and then simply walk away from the subject with your back turned? I don't necessarily blame this Officer. I blame his department for poor training. He chose to deploy spray and that is a good argument in itself on what should be a felony stop. Ok so he sprayed...next step should have been to drag that guy out of his car by a fistfull of hair onto the ground and cuff his ass. There are a million ways to "skin a cat" folks but let's face it... If that guy had an RPG in the backseat that Officer wouldn't have seen that either because he was the man and turned away carefree- that was no tactical retreat for cover there. If you use any force beyond control holds then they'd better be in handcuffs before you do another thing. I hope that Dept. has improved its training program for the sake of everyone else that has been sworn. |

| Posted 3 months ago If I remember correctly, the suspect in this tragic incident was shot and killed by a citizen while trying to flee the scene. The citizen was a passer-by who witnessed the officer being shot. The witness was a retired Marine and armed himself with the fallen officer's sidearm. The officer knew this suspect from several prior arrests. I'm proud of the citizen intervention on the officer's behalf, but saddened by the loss of a Law Enforcement Brother. R.I.P. Officer McKay This is the information from the Officer Down Memorial Page on Cpl. N. Bruce McKay III Corporal N. Bruce McKay III
Biographical Info
Incident Details
Corporal Bruce McKay was shot and killed during a motor vehicle stop. Corporal McKay pulled over a suspect for speeding on Route 116. The suspect then fled in his vehicle, leading the officer on a brief pursuit. The officer pulled his cruiser in front of the suspect's vehicle, forcing him off the road. Corporal McKay then used pepper spray on the suspect while attempting to take him into custody. After being pepper sprayed, the suspect produced a handgun and shot the officer four times, killing him. The suspect then ran over the officer. A civilian witnessed the incident and pulled his vehicle between the suspect's vehicle and Corporal McKay, in an effort to shield him. The civilian, a former United States Marine, then exited his vehicle and rushed to the officer's aid. He grabbed Corporal McKay's gun, while his son called for help on Corporal McKay's radio. The civilian then ordered the suspect to drop his weapon. When the suspect refused, the civilian shot and killed the suspect. The State Attorney General has decided the civilian's actions were justified and he will not face any charges. The suspect had previously been convicted of assaulting Corporal McKay during a vehicle stop in 2003. Corporal McKay had served with the Franconia Police Department for 12 years. He is survived by his daughter, fiancee, parents, and sister. |
