Posted 6 months ago I attended National Police Week in 2006 as a representative of my department. I was there to honor my best friend Deputy Byron " Kieth " Canon EOW 5-4-05 while they placed his name on the wall. I met other family members of officers I never met, never heard of, but share a relationship with. It was incredible to see the support and the unbreakable bond we all share. It was truly the most emotional, amazing, most proud thing I have ever experienced. I was truly honored to be a Law Enforcement Officer.

Posted 6 months ago That Law ride is a great thing. An officer who never met Kieth wore a bracelet bearing his name for the ride. Afterwards, he gave it to Kieth's fiance at the wall.

Posted 6 months ago Anybody know if PoliceLink with have a tent with merchandise at the FOP "tent city" this time? It would be a great place to meet other PL members face to face over a few cold "sodas."

Posted 6 months ago I went to LE week in 2003 when they put my friends name, Melissa Schmidt EOW 8/1/02 ,on the wall and have been going ever since. I did the Police Unity Tour ride 2 years and will forever support them. This year another friends name will be put on the wall, Mark Bedard EOW 11/9/07. I take lots of pictures so depending on what you are looking for, I might have taken pictures of it.

Posted 5 months ago kathe311 said: kathe311 - I am sorry to hear of the loss of your son. Welcome to Police Link and welcome to the group. I have attended National Police Week 6 times, but unfortunately have not been in about 6 years. At the time, I ran our state's FOP magazine and gained special admittance to some events. I was fortunate to get to meet two presidents, George Bush Sr and Bill Clinton (I know, not hip on the second one either, but it is fantastic to even get to meet a president).

Posted 5 months ago I've been as a Peer Support Team member for my department (we're local). It's an amazing experience and I honestly was not prepared for the overwhelming emotions I would have. I'm really not sure anyone can be. I got to work with the honor guards at the airport and ride the buses with the survivors to the hotel. Local LE motorcycle officers take the buses by police escort to the convention hotel. The looks on the survivors faces was...lots of things. But I could just tell that they were re-living the motorcade for their fallen officer's funeral. I also worked the hotel, met survivors, went to the candlelight vigil, and the memorial service. It's a powerful experience and I highly recommend anyone who can go does. "Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein
