First, I apologize if this topic has already been addressed but I did not want to go through the 11+ pages of topics before asking. Also, I am looking for the most up-to-date info.

I will be retiring from the Air Force in about a year and a half and want to start looking for a new job. I spent time in a patrol car in the early/mid 90's and then became a Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. We are federal agents that conduct felony level criminal investigations, counterintelligence/counterterrorism investigations, and major fraud investigations. I am a "crim" guy and have done a lot of drug work and have investigated just about every felony level crime our Airmen can get involved with. We also conduct protective service operations and I have protected leaders from foreign countries as well as our Secretary of the Air Force, Secretary of Defense, and others.

I was TCLEOSE certified at the basic, intermediate, and advanced levels as well as intermediate impact weapons but that was in the 90's and has since expired. I haven't decided if I want to get back in the patrol car or stay in investigations. I like the "schedule" of patrol work (i.e., four ten hours days) and not being on call but I do still enjoy the investigations.

That's where I need your help. I would like to stay around the San Antonio area but am not opposed to other Texas locations. Can anyone give me some ideas on investigative positions in Texas? As an example, some jurisdictions around the US have investigators who work for prosecutors. I want to stay in law enforcement so am leaning towards government agencies.

Any help you all can give will be greatly appreciated!! If you don't want to post a job publicly, feel free to PM me at brentpalmer@policelink.com.

Be Safe!!

Brentpalmer. I cannot help you with Texas LE but you have highly marketable skills and should have no problem with the transition. Thank you for your service to our country.

Thanks Sheepdog and right back at you.

I should also mention that Texas is my first choice but after being in the north for the last several years, I am willing to entertain anything south of the Mason-Dixon line. Florida, Texas, etc. Cold weather is just not for me! :-)

Just want to mention that I am in Texas right now in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and it is only 29 Degrees outside......Maybe Texas shouldn't be one of your choices if you don't like COLD... :) Yes I realize for those of you WAY up North 29 is nothing but hey for here it is VERY cold! (I've already lived up North and didn't like it much that is why I am here too.... :)
