Posted 10 months ago For me it was San Juan, PR. Spring 2007 the wife wanted to go to San Juan. It was our one year anniversary. I could have thought of a thousand other places that I would rather have gone, but as a good husband, I abided. We stayed in "Old San Juan" (Never really saw the "New" San Juan). Hot, dirty, and gridlocked. The streets smelled of urine and stale beer. Unfortunately, I appeared to be the only sober person in town. Did I mention that it was hot? We stayed at the Sheraton Hotel which overlooked the cruise ship port. Beautiful hotel, however our room was located under the pool and spa. 6am all I could hear is treadmills and weights. Oh, and the building next door was getting a new roof. With no other rooms available, one night was enough there, so we packed-up and headed off to look for a new place to stay. My only requirment was any place far from "Old" San Juan. We found a place about 20 minutes away with a nice beach. It was a much better location and It had two great resturants. After we checked-in we decided to park our butts on the sand. After about an hour my wife directs my attention to a commotion about 50 yards out. Sadly a fifteen year old boy got caught in a rip-tide and lost his life. The local people tried desperately to save him. My wife was highly upset because it took about 50 minutes for the first police officer to arrive. They never did find the boy. We tried to make the best of the trip after seeing that. The beaches were closed for two days after the incident. The Bacardi tour was okay. We decided to cut our trip short by two days. We did get our money back about four months later for the two nights we lost at the Sheraton (package deal). I've talk to a couple other people who have went there on business and they raved about the place. They said that there are some great golf courses and resturants there. I don't know, maybe it was just a bad time of year to go. I wasn't to optimistic about going in the first place. However, I would not recommend this destination. Go practice falling down, I'll be there in a minute |

| Posted 10 months ago Cant speak for Puerto Rico, but I know the drill about wives that expect stuff about places they have never been. There's one other place to avoid - the area's great, but NOT THAT MOTEL. In the Roanoke, Virginia area, a Knights Inn motel is on Thirlane Road just off I-581 near Roanoke International Airport. Stay away from that dump of a motel. It was filthy and dilapidated, and our reservations were nothing like what was confirmed in the email we got from Knights Inn HQ. The desk clerk also blatanty lied to me about the reservations until I let him have a spare copy of the confirmation email. We still have not got back all the money we lost on that motel in August, 2007. Naturally we stayed in a decent motel elsewhere in the area. |

| Posted 6 months ago I have to agree on San Juan. Thank God we were only there on day and part of the night on a cruise, and that was back in '98. We were on our honeymoon and at all the islands did the geeky touristy tours. The Bus driver took us to the ghetto areas and kept pointing out the s#!TBIRDS sitting out on the corners and on the stoops drinking and doing nothing. He then proceeded to tell us numerous times that they are on welfare, and look at YOUR tax dollars hard at work. If I wanted to see a ghetto I could have stayed home. It was dirty and unappealing. He took us by the cockfighting arena and seemed pretty proud of it too. After the tour we walked around a bit and decided to go back to the ship. This was around dusk now (6pmish) and all these skells were hanging out on the way to the dock, needless to say I did not feel safe at all.
We went to see a comedian that night while the ship was still in dock there. Oriental guy, really funny and the place was PACKED. He looked out and saw the standing room only crowd and said I see you smart people realized that San Juan was Puerto Rican for "Stay on ship". I would never go back there again “Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway”

| Posted 6 months ago Amsterdam in the Netherlands in 1999 was the worst vacation trip I have ever been on. Our vehicle got broken into two times and the police decided to place a boot on our vehicle prior to departure. The crime rate is high and the PD is unfriendly. Good sightseeing at the red light district though! |

The Knight Inn in Gatlinburg Tn. is filthy and dilapidated too. We were afraid to sleep in the beds so we laid some sleeping bags that were in the car on top of the beds. |

| Posted 6 months ago San Juan, man it was hot, we went for a family re-union. No one there obeys any traffic laws, you got to stay on the beaten path or get mugged, and it was hot. If I ever go back it won't be in the middle of July. |
