I lost a good friend in the line of duty. sad thing is i just talked to him 4 hours before he was killed. we went to the academy together, went to gun range all the time. had plenty of fun with other friends sharing in paintball games. I will always cherish the fun times we shared. If you wanna share some kind words about a fallen friend feel free.

I lost my PARTNER and BEST FRIEND - Garda David Dowd in the line of duty in Ireland on February 19th, 1989..... Agree with you all, one never forgets.
BUT, in the US and other Countries, 'THEY' are never forgotten! It took me 12 years through emotion, to get the Ball rolling on a Proper Police Memorial in Ireland. Not only were those fallen Offciers forgotten, but their Families/Loved ones were discarded. With the support and help from People like Craig Floyd, Susie Sawyer, Jim McNulty (R.I.P.) Christine Fulton, my friends in the DC Crew, and the many 'Survivors' I've met in DC - after 6 years of 'Committees', my Department has FINALLY agreed to honour our Fallen Heros with a proper Garda Memorial..
Now I feel 100% proud to be a Cop again, and not just, as many people say....'just a number!'

Cpl. Eric Sutphin Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Virginia (EOW 8-21-06)
Eric and I grew up together, were best friends through high school, joined the Army MP's together. I had the honor of serving as best man at his wedding. His accused killer's trial begins in the morning in Washington County Virginia. I saw this board and figured it would be the place to mention him.

I remember that day...I still pray for his family every day. I couldn't believe it, I was working in dispatch in Roanoke...and my heart has never felt the way it did when my Chief walked in and told me. My prayers go out for you as well. Thanks for the post!

I too lost a good friend and gang unit partner who was shot and killed by a gang member. It was a horrible experience for me as I was with him when he died, but I realize that it is his wife and children that I must focus on. to MAGNUM, I feel your frustration as well with the memorial. Our agency has yet to dedicate any kind of memorial to him, although there is a memorial to a police K9 out in front of the Headquarters. I just don't understand it, and I tried to round up the troops and get one built on our own to no avail. I was dissappointed in the admin and my peers, so much so that I no longer work at that agency. It has been almost four years and nothing still. Never forget Officer Stephan Gray, 57-16, Badge # 106, Merced PD, E.O.W. 04/15/04.
