Posted 7 months ago I would like to recommend American Military University. Its an online college but the professors have many years of experience and are great to learn from. You don't have to be military to attend.

Posted 7 months ago I am currently attending Union Institute & University and I have 24 units to go. I have found it to be very flexible with my work schedule, and the staff has been great. I would recommend UI&I to anyone.

Posted 7 months ago Ohio University has an excellent program for certified LEO's that gives credit for work experience and gets one to a associates degree pretty quickly. It is done in cooperation with the Ohio Highway Patrol and I highly reccommend it too all Ohio LEO's!!

| Posted 7 months ago University of Phoenix is a good online school for CJ degrees. The only drawback is they are nearly $500 a credit hour. Check with any universities in your state though. Some of them will offer online courses for your degree. Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.

Posted 7 months ago Online classes is the only way to go for me. I have too much going on to have to sit in class. There are a lot of great online schools out there but like anything else do your homework and be sure to select a school that works for you and your employer or future employer. The big thing to watch for is national accreditation versus regional accreditation. Both types of accreditation are typically accepted by employers but some credits do not transfer between regional accreditation and national accreditation schools. They should but they have some politics going on between each type of accreditation.

| Posted 7 months ago I agree with Sniffer. Maker SURE that the degree you will earn will be recognized by the agency you are seeking employment with. Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.

Posted 7 months ago I've been taking classes online through University of Phoenix. They rotate in every 9 weeks. I'll have my associates in July and then look at a BA at IUK Indiana University of Kokomo.

Posted 7 months ago American Military University is both nationally and regionally accredited. The professors come from great backgrounds in Law Enforcement, and homeland security. Most have atleast two degrees and 15 years or more in Law Enforcement. They are also the best paying if anyone knows a college Professor looking to make more money. Here is the website if anyone is interested. I transferred from Everest University. www.amu.apus.edu

Posted 7 months ago Make sure that the school is accredited. About 10 Fire Fighters got slammed for have a degree from a Diploma Mill. I would hate if anyone spent thousands on a degree to find out that it is worthless.

Posted 6 months ago University of Phoenix is great but expensive and is accredited. It is also nice because you go at your pace, you are not force into taking 3 or 4 classes a semester just to graduate.

Posted 6 months ago I graduated fro the University of Phoenix Online in Oct 2006 with my BS in Criminal Justice Administration. Though the tuition was somewhat expensive, I found that it meshed with my work schedule fairly well. Be nice. Be professional. Have a plan to kill everyone you meet. Misery minus me equals humor. I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Posted 6 months ago I just stumbled across this site thru my email, I almost deleted it. So far I am glad I didn't. I am currently attending University of Phoenix majoring in Criminal Justice. I am interested in finding out if Law Enforcement Agencies really care where you got your college degree and if I am going about becoming a Police Officer? I have wanted to be a cop for as long as I can remember. I would like to know if anyone here has used their degree from an online school in the field?

Posted 6 months ago Most agencies pay you, while coming in the door according to your degree level...up to a four year. If you get your degree after you are already hired...oh, well. However, I attended Saint Leo Univerisity. The main campus is in Florida, but there were mini centers all throughout GA. Also, you can take the classes online as well. The terms were only 8 weeks, so you can accelerate your progress. 95% of the instructors were in Law Enforcement. I am now Pursuing a MBA through Saint Leo as well. Online, Saturday classes, before work, after work. Good luck to everyone. Your department can demote you, promote you, no one can take away your education. Keep it going.

Posted 6 months ago Agree with Babycop. St. Leo University has a great program (BA and MBA) in LE. Their on-line courses are convenient to take but you have a lot of writing to do. I got my Sociology degree from St. Leo in three years and 75% of it was done online. Education is the KEY!

Posted 5 months ago Im finishing up my degree with Kaplan University. I have found that the professors are quite reliable to our circumstances with work. Most have been in our line of work for many years. FAFSA works out well at this institution as well. If you get the grants, then you will not have to start repaying until after your graduation, or you are out of school for more than 6 months. I will be graduating in Oct 08.

Posted 5 months ago For those of you who used these online schools, could you give an idea of cost, so that we can compare? I am going to have to buckle down and finish my degree. I am curious to see if there are any online law degree classes as well. Police Link Forums Moderator PAIN IS WEAKNESS LEAVING THE BODY! Obstacles are what you see when you lose sight of the goal. Depends on where you want to go. DO NOT take any classes from a school outside your home state. Tuition will be outrageous! Community Colleges around here (NC) are about $40 a sem. hr. ....State 4 year school about $82 plus books.
