Behavioral Identification
The University of Virginia Police Department is sponsoring a two day class presentation of "Behavioral Identification" by Academy Group,
Inc. May 19-20, 2008. This is a Behavioral Science class designed to help improve observation and evaluating skills in situational dynamics such as crowds or small gatherings in order to identify out-of-context behavior.
Training will be held at the University of Virginia Darden School room 120. Participants must obtain parking permits from the Gate House on or before the first day of class.
Target Audience: All Law Enforcement, including School Resource Officers.
Topics Covered will include: Visual Threat Recognition Test for out-of-context behavior and/or devices/ Racial/Ethnic Profiling vs.
Behavioral Identification/The Art of Articulation
Behavior Documentation/ Communication by Non-Verbal Behaviors and Gestures/The Alert Ear/ Officer Survival/ Stop and QuestionTechniques
Students will learn how to identify out-of-context behavior and gestures. 0 Legal/14.5 hours Career Development! 1.5 hours Cultural Diversity DCJS credit will be awarded.
Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided. Lunch is on your own.
Tuition for the class is $150.00, payable by check to University of Virginia Police Department and includes all materials.
